Some quotes

I am currently doing research for a project in my Gothic Art and Architecture class. I am researching the importance and the intent of representations of Saint Thomas Aquinas who was prevalent in  the Medieval era. Here are some interesting quotes I found of his concerning art. Enjoy.

+ “A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his mind is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.”

+ “The test of the artist does not lie in the will with which he goes to work, but in the excellence of the work he produces.”

+ “Art is right reason in the doing of work. Three things are necessary for the salvation of man: to know what he ought to believe; to know what he ought to desire; and to know what he ought to do.”
