Bo Bartlett Workshop

During my break between Winter and Spring quarters I was able to go to Columbus, Georgia to spend some time with one of America’s best figure and narrative painters: Bo Bartlett. He held a workshop in his hometown for about 15 burgeoning artist and shared his immense wisdom on subjects such as the of the figure in contemporary art as well as his holistic approach to a daily studio practice. Our group was fortunate enough not only to see this modern master at work in the studio (thus gaining such amazing insight), but he was gracious enough to open up his home and his archives at the forthcoming Bartlett Center, which has strong ties to Columbus State University. The following is a visual journal of my time with Bo, his work, and aspirations for my own future as a painter.
